LAW AND POLITICAL PARTIES POST-CONFERENCE APPRECIATION AND PUBLICATION ARRANGEMENTS
My Vote Counts (MVC) together with the UCT Public Law and Politics Departments would like to extend our appreciation for attending and contributing towards making the conference a successful event. We believe that significant inroads were made not only with the subject of political party regulation but in connecting academics, activists, judges and politicians in a cross-disciplinary manner.
It is furthermore significant that the consensus among participants at the conference was that political parties in South Africa need to be accountable to their electorate and that, in order to achieve this, some form of political party regulation needs to exist.
As noted at the end of the conference, we intend publishing submissions made for the conference and are in the process of finding a suitable publisher. Once we have, we will communicate the relevant house-style and formatting requirements.
We are also eagerly awaiting the outcome of the MVC Constitutional Court application. Kindly note that once it is handed down, MVC will be hosting a seminar to engage with the details of the judgment more fully. Details (venue and times) will communicated in due course.
Once again, thank you for your contribution.
